Annual meeting of the Directorate of Fisheries and the Icelandic Coast Guard
The annual general meeting of the Directorate of Fisheries and the Icelandic Coast Guard was held last Friday, the 28th of November.

This time, the meeting took place on board the patrol vessel Freyja, which was docked at the Port of Akureyri. The meeting began with a presentation of the Directorate of Fisheries' new monitoring system, which is currently in development, before the formal agenda commenced.
Collaboration and common goals
On average, the agencies meet four times a year, and there are always numerous topics on the agenda. The attendees agreed that the collaboration between the two agencies had been successful during the year and expressed a desire to strengthen it further. Emphasis was placed on efficient and coordinated monitoring of the nation's shared fisheries resources to ensure sustainable utilisation.
The Directorate of Fisheries thanks the Icelandic Coast Guard for their excellent cooperation and the crew of Freyja for their generous hospitality.
