A magnificent newly renovated midwife and maternity ward at Selfossi

Projects

HSU Selfoss Midwifery Watch has been in for a great change over the last few weeks.

The antenatal clinic is now in the hallway of the midwife and labour ward, the antenatal care unit was moved around a room and an extra workspace was created which is called Freyjukot. The suite (bathing room) moved to and there is a Hálsakot, another workspace where outpatient visits and antenatal care are welcomed. Cervical screenings will also take place at the Faculty along with 5-day paediatric examinations. There is a wide range of activities at the department and all are very welcome ❤️

Midwives at HSU have a multi-disciplinary scope. They provide general care for mothers and supervision of pregnancy-related problems in collaboration with Landspítali. They provide telephone consultations to pregnant women and cervical cancer screening. Midwives attend to antenatal care at all health clinics at HSU.

Children are received around the clock and their children are treated in post-natal care.

The maternity ward at HSU in Selfoss is the maternity ward for sundowners.

Here, all women can give birth if they have a normal pregnancy and if their birth is normal.

In fact, midwives at the maternity ward work at creating a homely atmosphere but at the same time keeping the mother and child safe.

Further details about the Faculty can be read here
