Changes in the administration of assistive devices to shorten waiting times
Changes in the administration of assistive devices to improve service, shorten waiting times, and increase efficiency in application processing.

Iceland Health has made changes to the administration of assistive devices with the aim of improving service, reducing waiting times, and increasing efficiency in processing applications.
One of the main changes is that applications must now include more detailed information regarding the choice of assistive device and accessories. With clearer information from the outset, delays can be reduced, and application processing simplified.
Simpler process and increased automation
Work is underway to improve the Data Gateway, where the application process will become clearer and more automated. Among other things, it will require selecting a product number from a product list, ensuring that all necessary information accompanies the application from the outset.
Emphasis will also be placed on recording each accessory individually, which reduces the likelihood of incorrect processing and speeds up handling.

More options for direct ordering and increased flexibility
At the same time, increased possibilities have been opened to order assistive devices directly from suppliers when they are not in stock. Work is underway to further develop this arrangement to increase the speed and efficiency of the service.
To shorten waiting times, procedures have also been changed so that applications can be approved without specifying the exact type of assistive device or vendor. Users can then choose a suitable assistive device from recognized suppliers within the approved category.
