Negotiating a debt with a creditor

Points of agreement
Search for information on the claimants website about possible solutions. It is often possible to negotiate more solutions than are stated there.
Examples
Check the possibility of:
temporarily lower installments and longer loan period: Check if you can temporarily pay less of the debt. After a certain time, full payments would resume. Payments that fall during the period are either added to the amount later or check whether the loan term is extended
cancellation of billing and growth costs: See if you can negotiate a reduction or cancellation of billing costs.
combine loans: Consider the possibility of combining smaller loans to reduce the payment burden and reduce the cost of different loans.
Get a written confirmation of the contract and take care of all documents and payment receipts. Do not accept a contract that you cannot honor.
If you cannot negotiate with the creditor, you can get advice from a debtor's ombudman.
