Surveillance of newbuilding and modifications of vessels and boats
If there is any difference between the Icelandic and the English text, the Icelandic version is valid.
The Icelandic Transport Authority needs to be informed of how inspections during construction are to be carried out, both during newbuilding and modifications.
If a ship is classed in a classification society, the newbuilding or modification is subject to surveillance by the classification society.
The Icelandic Transport Authority shall supervise new construction or modifications if a ship is not classed in a classification society.
An inspection body may supervise construction if a boat is less than 15 metres overall.
If the Icelandic Transport Authority is requested to carry out surveillance on newbuilding or modification, an application must be submitted.
Inspection bodies and classification societies shall submit the results of their surveillance to the Icelandic Transport Authority once the surveillance has been completed.
