A fee must be paid for the operation of tractors that are temporarily in Iceland. The fee is based on the weight of the tractor and the duration of its stay in the country.
Tractors under 10 tons
Stay of 30 days or less
When a tractor is in the country for a short time, a fixed fee is paid.

Stay longer than 30 days
If a tractor under 10 tons remains in the country for more than 30 days, a kilometer fee must be paid upon departure from the country. The amount is based on the distance driven and the permitted total weight of the vehicle.
The kilometer fee for longer stays cannot be lower than the fixed driving fee paid upon arrival in the country.
Tractors 10 tons or heavier
Tractors that are 10 tons or heavier generally pay a kilometer fee based on the odometer readings at arrival and departure, rather than a fixed fee.
The fee for each kilometer driven is determined based on the registered total weight of the tractor, as shown in the fee table above.
