The general rule is that income received during the payment year is counted as income when calculating the payment entitlement for the entire year, 1/12 for each month.

However, it is possible to request that employment income be counted as income only in the months it is earned. TR calculates during recalculation and settlement which rule is more favorable and chooses the rule that is more advantageous for each individual.
