Social Insurance Administration: Changes to disability and rehabilitation payments
How will age add-on be in the new system?
A supplementary pension is paid to those who receive disability or part-disability pension.
The full age supplement is 30.000 ISK per month or 360.000 ISK per year.
The full amount will be paid to those who were 18 to 24 years old when either
(a) the conditions for sickness and rehabilitation payments were first met
or
(b) when the first outcome of an integrated expert assessment was that the applicant's ability to be active on the labour market was assessed at 50 % or less.
The amount of the supplement will be reduced by 5% for each year after the age of 24 and the supplement will not be paid if the applicant first met the criteria at or after the age of 44.
Example: A person receives an integrated assessment of 26-50 % of the ability to be active in the labour market at the age of 25. The age supplement will be 95% of the full amount and he/she will keep that amount until the age of 67.
Age supplement is income-related and reduces the combined amount of pension, household allowance and age supplement if about 45% of the pensioner's income exceeds the exempt income limit, until it is cancelled.
