If you have suffered damage to property due to a natural disaster, you may be entitled to compensation.
When an insured event has occurred, the insured must immediately notify NTÍ or the insurance company that sold him the insurance. The deadline for reporting damage is one year from the time the insured became aware of the damage, otherwise, he may lose his right to compensation
Underinsured
Buildings, buildings, and movable property, fire-insured by an insurance company with an Icelandic license, are insured against natural disasters.
Other structures that are not fire-secured, are to be insured specifically for natural disasters.
