Order process for the custody certificate
A certificate of custody is ordered electronically on the National Registry website. The party ordering the certificate must register on an order form with an electronic identification. Please note that the child's National Registry number for which the certificate is issued must be entered.
The number of certificates, the language of the certificate and finally the means of delivery must be selected.
There are three types of delivery:
Electronic certificate in the mailbox at Island.is – the fastest and best option.
Sending home by letter - sent to the domicile of the certificate holder.
Retrieve the certificate from the National Registry checkout in Borgartún 21 – open from 10-15.
Once payment and order has been received by the National Registry, it shall be processed and the time for delivery of certificates is up to 2 working days.
Note that the certificate is only prepared if all data is available.
When the certificate is ready, a text is sent to the orderer and the certificate is delivered in the manner requested in the order.
