Cape town agreement (IDERA)
Iceland is a party to the Cape Town Convention on International Interest in Mobile Equipment, along with the Protocol on Aircraft Equipment.
Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA)
The Mobile Equipment International Insurance Rights Convention provides for authorisation for debtors to issue to third parties an authorisation to request the deregistration of an aircraft from an Aircraft Register (IDERA).
The registered aircraft owner may request an IDERA-registration in the aircraft registry. The appropriate IDERA form must be submitted to the Icelandic Transport Authority in duplicate.
The form should be signed in ink by the registered aircraft owner.
The Icelandic Transport Authority reviews a request for an IDERA registration and, if data proves satisfactory, an IDERA is registered in the aircraft registry of the Icelandic Transport Agency in relation to the aircraft in question.
Insufficient documentation will not be processed and returned to the registered owner under his/her own responsibility. If a lawyer represents the registered owner, communication will be directed to the lawyer.
It must be ensured that registration data is in a form and content that can be processed by the Icelandic Transportation Authority.
A confirmation of a satisfactory IDERA registration will be delivered to the party who has been granted a deregistration permit on the basis of the registration or to a lawyer representing him.
A fee is charged for an IDERA registration according to the Icelandic Transport Authority tariff.
Revocation of IDERA
IDERA registration with the Icelandic Transport Agency will only be erased from the aircraft register in return for the written approval of the party authorised to deregister under the registered IDERA.
