If there is difference between the Icelandic version and the English, the Icelandic version is valid.
The Icelandic Transport Authority issues certificates of proficiency for sea pilots to work in specific areas for five years at a time. The certificates comply with the act on on the Maritime Traffic Service and the regulation on Vessel Pilotage.
Supporting documents
To be issued with a certificate, the following documents must be submitted:
Recent image of the passport size - digital
Medical certificate on eyesight, hearing and health of seamen (not more than 6 months from issue)
Confirmation of completion of a course for sea pilots under Article 13 of Act No. 41/2003 and Article 7 of Regulation No. 320/1998 on Vessel Pilotage.
Confirmation of payment
Declaration of recommendation for the application from the board of the port to which the authorisation is to be granted.
