General

You need a police licence to possess and use more powerful or specialised firearms, for example:

• semi-automatic shotguns

• riffle with a caliber dimension larger than 22 lr

Conditions

The applicant must have had a general firearms licence for at least 1 year.

Supporting data

An application must be accompanied by:

• information that demonstrates experience. Example: from fishing, courses, sports shooting or employment

• information on why an increased firearms permit is requested

• course certificiation, if applicable

6,500 ISK

Rights

Authorises the ownership and use of:

• riffles with a calibre of up to 30 caliber

• semi-automatic shotguns

Duration

Maximum 5 years.
