Businesses engaged in regular import or export activities must submit customs declarations, cargo manifests and other required information to the Iceland Revenue and Customs.
These documents can be submitted electronically.
Requirements
To obtain authorisation to submit customs declarations electronically, an applicant must be engaged in:
commercial import or export activities; or
commercial manufacturing or repair services.
The business must also:
hold the licences required for its activities, such as a trade, manufacturing or operating licence;
hold any other necessary authorisations, for example a customs broker licence where applicable;
notify the Iceland Revenue and Customs Authority of its activities;
be registered in the Register of Enterprises;
be registered for VAT;
not be in arrears with taxes or other public charges;
use software approved by the Iceland Revenue and Customs Authority (this requirement does not apply to Web Customs Clearance); and
employ staff with adequate knowledge of customs legislation and procedures.
