Application for occupational activities: glacier cave tours and glacier walks in the South region of Vatnajökull National Park

This application is for those that wish to conduct glacier cave tours and glacier walks in the South region of Vatnajökull National Park, between October 1st 2025 and September 30th 2027.

Application deadline is July 27th 2025.

The application is opened up with your personal login (not "umboð"), the company kennitala is registered in the application process.

Information you need to have for the application:

• Registration number (kennitala) of the company

• Information on the party signing the electronic contract

• Type of planned activities

• Location of operation

• Estimated number of guests

• Information about the lead guides (must have completed at least Hard Ice 3 according to AIMG standards or a comparable course)

• Description of the company, its experience and equipment

Required attachments:

• Confirmation of the qualifications of supervisors

• Confirmation of authorization of the Directorate of Tourism as a travel agency or tour operator for day tours

• Environmental and sustainability policy (Goals, action plan, instruments and defined guarantors)

• Security plan (Risk assessment, procedures, contingency plan, incident report) Please note that security plans must also be sent to the Audit Office, as stated in the notice.

Useful attachments:

• In the case of a large fleet of equipment, it can be sent in as an attachment

• Checklist for travelling safety equipment (if not part of the security plan)

• Certification from Vakinn, equivalent certification or confirmation by the Icelandic Tourist Board that the application process has begun
