International driving licence
An international driving license is a small book with a translation of your Icelandic driving license. Icelandic driving licenses are Pan-European and are to be valid in all European countries. If you travel to more distant countries outside the EEA, an international driving license may be needed.
Conditions
The conditions for obtaining an international driving license are:
to hold a valid Icelandic driving license

The process
Commissioners throughout the country and the FÍB (The Icelandic Automobile Association) issue international driving licenses. Applicants must arrive themselves. The Icelandic driving license must be brought along with a profile photo sized 35x45 mm. The commissioner´s offices process the international driving license in up to one working day.
Under exceptional circumstances, commissioners may issue an international driving license for those who have no opportunity to attend themselves, e.g. because of being abroad. The applicant must send a photo of both sides of their driving license, a profile photo sized 35x45 mm on photographic paper and transfer a payment. Commissioners offices may take up to one day processing the license.
