If you are a crew member on a ship or aircraft arriving in Iceland, you may bring a certain quantity of goods duty-free. The allowance depends on the duration of your journey.
Upon arrival, you must declare any goods you are carrying.
Goods subject to import restrictions or prohibitions must always be declared to customs, regardless of quantity.
Duty-free allowances by category of goods
Crew members of ships and aircraft who are resident in Iceland may bring goods duty-free up to a specified value, based on the retail price at the place of purchase:
up to 32,500 ISK if the journey was shorter than 15 days,
up to 65,000 ISK if the journey was 15 days or longer.
The value of a single item may not exceed 32,500 ISK.
Food and confectionery are duty-free up to a value of 25,000 ISK and a maximum weight of 10 kilograms. This is included in the overall allowance.
The duty-free allowance for alcohol varies depending on the type of crew and the duration of the journey. It is measured in units.

Journey 15 days or longer
20 units of nicotine products, or
20 disposable e-cigarettes with 2 ml tanks, or
40 ml of e-liquid for refill.
Seafarers
Journey shorter than 15 days
20 units of nicotine products, or
20 disposable e-cigarettes with 2 ml tanks, or
40 ml of e-liquid for refill.
Journey 15 days or longer
40 units of nicotine products, or
40 disposable e-cigarettes with 2 ml tanks, or
80 ml of e-liquid for refill.
The duty-free allowance for tobacco varies depending on the type of crew, the duration of the journey, and the type of tobacco.

Import charges must be paid on goods exceeding duty-free allowances. You can also complete payment for dutiable goods before arriving in Iceland.
Inspection upon arrival
Customs authorities may inspect the luggage of passengers and crew. The owner has the right to be present during the inspection and may request that the luggage be sealed until the inspection takes place. Customs will issue a receipt if requested.
Crew members resident abroad
Crew members of ships and aircraft who are resident abroad may bring duty-free personal equipment and luggage appropriate to the purpose and duration of their stay, provided that the items are re-exported upon departure from Iceland.
