The application deadline for four Division Director positions at Land and Forest Iceland expired on 11 December. A total of 28 applications were received for the positions. The Division Directors will work under the institution’s new organisational structure, which will take effect at the turn of the year.

The new tariff will take effect on 1 August.

Bergþór Steinn Jónsson, specialist in emergency medicine, and Oddur Ólafsson, specialist in anaesthesiology and intensive care, have been appointed to formal positions at the Department of Education and Science at Akureyri Hospital (SAk). These are 20% positions with a focus on teaching and education.

The Presidents of the Nordic Supreme Courts met in Ilulissat in Greenland on 25 and 26 August.

Grants from the SAk Science Fund are awarded once a year. The Science Fund supports research projects only, not quality improvement or educational projects. The SAk Science Council oversees the evaluation process of eligible applications on behalf of the Science Fund. A total of ISK 8,812,696 was allocated.

A new health clinic has been officially opened in Suðurnesjabær, located in Vörðurinn, Sandgerði.

The Healthcare Institution of North Iceland (HSN) has hired two new nurses for the Akureyri Clinic: Ingibjörg Ösp Ingólfsdóttir and Þórdís Gísladóttir. The Akureyri Clinic is a diagnostic and advisory center for individuals with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) or long-term symptoms of Covid.
