Pele’s hair are extremely thin glass needles that form during volcanic eruptions when lava is ejected from a vent. These are droplets of molten lava that, due to the speed at which the material is thrown from the eruption site, are stretched into glassy threads. The hairs are very light and can travel long distances, depending on weather conditions.
