The Directorate of Labour has now opened an application and payment system for applicants for temporary support for the payment of wages for those who have not been able to perform their work in Grindavík.

The Icelandic government approved at its meeting this morning the bill by Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, on temporary support for wages for people working in Grindavík.

In light of discussions on the employment rights of Venezuelan citizens who have applied for international protection following the ruling of the Immigration Appeals Board, the Directorate of Labour would like to make the following statement.

The Directorate of Labour and Reykjanesbær have prepared an action plan for the residence of applicants for international protection in the municipality under the auspices of the Directorate of Labour.

The grants for women’s employment were awarded on 19 May last year in Harpa and 30 projects received grants totalling ISK 35,000,000.

The unpaid December allowance is 94,119 ISK. At the same time, jobseekers with dependent children receive a special December allowance for each child under the age of 18.

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour has signed a regulation on the changes in the amount of payments in the mourning leave and payment of the mourning grant in 2024.

On 15 March, amendments to Act on Foreigners’ Right to Work No. 97/2002 were approved.
