New registration of a work machine or work device
Before a work machine is taken into use, it must be registered with the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health.
Registration process
Registrations are made electronically on My Pages at the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health website.
You need to register:
The owner: name, social security number, address, and phone number.
The occupier in the case of property rental: name, social security number, address,and telephone number.
The importer: name, social security number, address and phone number.
The machine itself.
The country of manufacture, production number, make and model.
The category, weight, lifting capacity and engine size. It is good to refer to the registration manual (pdf).
Note that CE marking is necessary for registration.
Public road registration: You can apply for the registration of a work machine in traffic as soon as the machine is newly registered. You can also apply for public road registration later.
Allocation of registration number
The machines registration number will be available at the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health My pages within three working days. Notification is also sent by e-mail to the registered e-mail address on My Pages.
The macine or device can then be cleared through customs and brought to the workplace.
Inspection and delivery of a number
When the machine has arrived at the workplace, contact the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health customer service, who will send an inspector to the workplace. He examines the machine and puts the registration number on it.
Insurance
The Administration of Occupational Safety and Health does not require insurance. It is the responsibility of the owner of the machine to contact the insurance companies.
Service time
It generally takes less than three working days to receive the registration number.
The registration plate is placed on the machine when it arrives at the workplace.
Cost
The registration costs ISK 30.240 ISK
Billing is done with a payment slip from the Finance Ministry.
