When the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health receives a request to register a work machine or equipment, it reviews whether it is correctly CE-marked. Additional documents may be requested from the importer to confirm this, such as an EC-Declaration of Conformity or relevant technical documentation.
The manufacturer should have these documents available if the machine or equipment has been manufactured in accordance with the Regulation on Machinery and Technical Equipment and other applicable rules. In some cases, an inspection by a specialist from the authority’s machine inspection division may be required to verify that the machine or equipment meets the relevant safety requirements.
Once the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health has confirmed that the machine or equipment is correctly CE-ömarked and complies with applicable safety requirements, the registration number will be made available on My Pages at Island.is. A notification will also be sent by email to the registered email address on My Pages.
After this, the work machine or equipment may be cleared through customs and brought to the workplace.
