Permit to transport firearms between countries via Iceland

In general

Individuals traveling with firearms whith layover in Iceland need to apply for a police permit.

Information needed

The application must include:

• information about the firearm owner, such as name, date and year of birth, citizenship, home address in the country of residence, contact information, and address in Iceland during the stay

• information about the firearm, such as type, manufacturer, model name, serial number, and more

• information about ammunition, if applicable

• dates of transport and route of transport

• any other information the applicant wishes to provide

Documents

• Short-term export permit from the home country

• Confirmation that the applicant is the owner of the firearm
