Parental leave

If one parent dies or is unable to care for the child during the leave period, their unused right to parental leave or parental allowance is transferred to the other parent.

Transfer of parental leave rights in the event of a parent's death

If one parent dies before the child reaches the age of 24 months, the remaining right to parental leave or parental allowance shall be transferred to the surviving parent.

In the case of adoption or permanent foster care, the reference is 24 months after the child entered the home.
