Landskjörstjórn (The National Electoral Commission) has issued authorizations for election observation during the municipal elections on the basis of Article 138 of the Election Act. The observers are from The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and the British organization Democracy Volunteers.

Landskjörstjórn issues special credentials for those who receive authorization to conduct election observation, which they must carry while performing their duties.

Municipal electoral commissions will be notified of the authorizations issued for election observation.
