Permit for ocean quahog fishing is applied for each fishing year. The boats that fish for human consumption are permitted to fish with plough.
Hook and line catch quota boats may fish ocean quahog to use for bait.
When weighing or registering ocean quahog, the provisions of the Regulation on weighing and registration of marine catches and the Regulation on registration and electronic submission of catch information apply.
Conditions
A contract for processing must be available or an equivalent declaration in the case of self-processing.
The processing plant needs to be validated by the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, MAST.
Fishing is only allowed in areas that have been health checked by Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, MAST
Applications are made through the application system of the Directorate of Fisheries.
The licence costs ISK 22.000 ISK
