Orators’ Competition for Legal Students

On Saturday 4 March, the Supreme Court held an oral argument contest with the Orators Association of Law Students.
Two teams participated in the competition. The winning team was made up of Dagbjört Ýr Kiesel, Jónína Þórdís Karlsdóttir, Kristín Alfa Arnórsdóttir, Kristjana Guðbjartsdóttir and Lilja Hrönn Önnudóttir Hrannarsdóttir. The other team was made up of Jón Sigfússon, Óðinn Ingi Þórarinsson, Sigurbjörg Nanna Vignisdóttir, Þóra Birna Ingvarsdóttir and Þórdís Ólöf Jónsdóttir.
The speaker of the competition was Þóra Birna Ingvarsdóttir.
The judges in the competition were Supreme Court judges Benedikt Bogason, Björg Thorarensen and Ása Ólafsdóttir and Judge Kristín Benediktsdóttir and lawyer Ari Karlsson.
The safety of the competitors was noted, even though they were trying to exhaust their first attempt in this field. All speeches were well-articulated and well-presented and the difference between the teams and the competitors was narrow.
