Equal pay policy
The aim of the policy is to ensure equal pay and benefits for all women and men for the same work or work of equal value.
This policy is established in accordance with the requirements of ÍST 85:2012 (equal pay standard) and the Act on Equal Status and Equal Rights of Women and Men, no. 10/2008. The policy applies to all courts under the jurisdiction of the Courts, i.e. the Supreme Court of Iceland, the Court of Appeals and all district courts.
The policy is prepared by a collaborative group in the adoption of ÍST 85:2012 in the courts and is regularly reviewed.
The policy applies to employees of the courts and the Judicial Administration who do not have legally determined wage terms.
The aim of the policy is to ensure equal pay and benefits for all women and men for the same work or work of equal value. Wage decisions must ensure that staff do not suffer discrimination in wages due to inconsequential reasons.
The courts undertake to abide by the laws and regulations in force at any given time which relate to the principle that women and men shall be paid equal wages for the same work or work of equal value.
Equal pay objectives have been set, equal pay systems documented for the courts covered by Article 19(3) of Act no. 10/2008 with regard to the wage terms of those employees who are not subject to legally determined wage terms, thus ensuring continuous improvement, the necessary supervision and response in the event of deviations in wage decisions.
The chief executives of the courts in question review the equal pay system regularly, where the results, objectives are reviewed and changes are made if necessary.
Thus approved by the Courts Administration on 1 November 2019.
