On the occasion of International Day of Sign Language
23rd September 2025
On the occasion of International Day of Sign Language, we posted these videos with the speakers of ÍTM on SignWiki.

Daníel Jacob Jensen was born in Skálavík, Sandey, Faroe Islands, on June 14 1930 and died on January 13, 2013 in Reykjavík.
He came to Iceland in 1956 in search of a job and settled here. Daníel brought new trends into the community of deaf people in Iceland, as he had met such communities in the Nordic countries. He encouraged the creation of the Deaf Society and worked with others to create the society in 1960, a society that still operates today. Daníel was on the board of the society for more or less the first decade and was chairman for 6 years. He was made an honorary member of the society on its 50th anniversary in 2010, for his hard work and selfless efforts in the cause of the society.
Daníel was an active member of the preservation of the Icelandic Ice Ice Sheet, including participating in research and recording various stories from his life. He was also both an interviewer and a facilitator in interviews under the auspices of SHH.
For the occasion of the international day of sign languages 2025, videos with Daníel are posted here on SignWiki
