Green steps
15th January 2026
The Communications Center has participated in the Green Steps in Government Operations project in recent years.
The project aims to make the operations of government agencies more environmentally friendly, promote environmental awareness and employee well-being, and at the same time save money in operations.
We have now managed to complete four of the five Green Steps.
The Green Steps working group at the Communications Center has been behind the project and we thank them for their initiative. All employees of the organization have been active in environmental issues with their participation and suggestions for actions. This has resulted in increased use of environmentally friendly transportation, better efficiency, more detailed sorting, less waste and greater environmental awareness among employees.
There was a major reorganization when the organization moved to Laugavegur, where special attention was paid to environmental issues.
Certified carbon credits were purchased through the United Nations to offset the organization's carbon activities.
These credits will be used for a project in Guatemala. The project is multifaceted and can be read about here
The Communications Center continues to work on environmental issues and aims to achieve all five Green Steps.
