What do you want to know about private documents? Open House at the National Archives of Iceland

3rd June 2025

The National Archives of Iceland welcomes the public to an open house, where the focus will be on private archives – archives of individuals, families, organisations and companies that hold invaluable sources of information about the lives and society of Icelanders throughout history.

The open house will give visitors the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the importance of private archives for history and culture

  • Ask experts about archiving and preservation

  • Get advice on how to best register and store your own documents

  • View selected archives and get insight into unpublished sources

When: Friday, June 6 between 10 and 12

Where: Reading Room of the National Archives of Iceland, Laugavegur 162, Reykjavík

Come and join the conversation about the future of private archives. We look forward to seeing you!
