Til skjalanna is the podcast of the National Archives of Iceland featuring a diverse group of interviewers and contributors on historical topics such as major events, tragedies, various information, notable characters and mysteries that have shaped the history of a country and a nation.
The series aims to be not only informative but also fun, as the story is for everyone and therefore it is important that it is presented so that everyone can enjoy it. The first episode of the podcast aired on October 21st, 2020, wherein Unnar Rafn Ingvarsson spoke with National Archives Acting Director Hrefna Róbertsdóttir about the role of the National Archives of Iceland. Since then, 25 episodes have been added and there are many different topics to be covered, such as the 30,000 Icelanders’ estate, documents in a landslide zone, private letters of a 19th century woman and the National Archives of Iceland’s court database.
The show is being watched by more than 10,000 people and it is clear that there are many people who are interested in making history accessible in a fun and live way. You can find the show on the main podcasts like Spotify and also on the National Archives dissemination site.
