2nd May 2025
Logi Einarsson, Minister of Culture, Innovation and Universities, visited the National Archives of Iceland recently and studied the museum’s operations. He was received by National Archives Director Hrefna Róbertsdóttir, Njörður Sigurðsson, Assistant Director and Thuridur Árnadóttir, Director of Operations.

The topics discussed are the most important issues in the field of archives at the moment. The most important are the transformations that the state as a whole is undergoing along with digital development, long-term storage of documents and security issues.
The National Archives play a key role in these changes and receive the administrative data that is generated and provide advice on the completion and arrangements. The housing analysis that the Directorate of Public Works is working on for the museum is discussed, where the future arrangements of housing and the long-term custody of the National Archives are being evaluated.
Finally, selected documents were examined from the library, which has a total of about 50 shelf kilometers of data in its possession.
