The interests of the administration in the Spring Conference of the National Archives
15th May 2025
The annual spring conference of the National Archives of Iceland took place yesterday for the seventh time. The conference was well attended as in the previous year and there were about 150 participants. The title of the conference was “What is the interest of the administration with records management and archiving?”

Five contributions were made from various perspectives, from the public archive, information rights, investigative interests and the parties responsible for the delivery. After the contributions, the speakers sat in a panel and had a good discussion about the subject.
Heather Lind Hansson from the National Archives of Iceland, Ásthildur Valtýsdóttir from the Prime Minister’s Office, Finnur Þór Vilhjálmsson chair of the Althingi Special Investigative Committee for the avalanche in Súðavík in 1995, Elín Huld Hartmannsdóttir from the District Commissioner of the Capital Region and Daldís Ýr Guðmundsdóttir from Landsbanki contributed to this report.
