A new organization chart of the National Archives took effect on January 1, 2026

5th January 2026

At the turn of the year, changes to the organizational structure of the National Archives took effect, aimed primarily at streamlining operations and increasing efficiency following the growth in projects and staff.

The departments of the archives have now been renamed, and employees have moved between departments as tasks have shifted with the completion of the National Land Project. The final step in building up the operations division will be taken early this year with the hiring of a systems administrator.

  • The core divisions are now called the Media and Research Division and the Records Management and Archival Division.

  • The professional unit Information Services has been moved from the Records Management and Archival Division to the Dissemination and Research Division.

  • All staff within the core divisions now belong to a team led by a Head of division.

  • A new position, Head of Private Archives, has been created.
