National Archives continue to be equally remunerated workplace

4th April 2025

We are pleased to report that the National Archives of Iceland remains a workplace with equal pay.

An equal pay audit was conducted at the end of last year and the auditing body BSI á Íslandi has confirmed a reissue of the certificate for 2025-2028. The National Archives first passed the equal pay certification in 2019 and now, as in previous audits, the gender-based wage gap is negligible at the institution, or 0.2% in favour of women.

The goal of the implementation of equal pay certification is to establish and maintain equal pay at the National Archives and fulfill the obligations of employers to ensure equal rights for the sexes, pay them equal pay and ensure that they enjoy the same conditions for the same or equally valuable work.
