Annual report 2023 published
27th June 2024
The annual report for 2023 has been published. It contains information on the activities of the National Archives of Iceland in the last year.
The operations of the National Archives in Iceland last year were characterized by security issues. After the earthquakes on Reykjanes, a cooperation project was launched to save the archives of the town of Grindavík so that the rights of the town’s residents could be guaranteed despite the catastrophe.
The National Archives’ conferences during the year also reflected the importance of data security and the role of archives in the preservation of information in the era of fake news and fake intelligence, as National Archives Director Hrefna Róbertsdóttir points out in her address.
Infrastructure projects were still prominent, but good progress was made, including strengthening human resources and quality issues, upgrading equipment, digital preservation, to name a few.
