Delivering paper data - public data

One of the main tasks of the National Archives of Iceland is to receive paper documents from the parties that are required to deliver them for preservation. According to the laws on public archives, paper documents that are required to be delivered to a public archives must be delivered to the National Archives when they have reached the age of 30 years. If paper documents that are under 30 years old are delivered to the National Archives, the museum charges for their preservation until they have reached the age of 30 according to the tariff. Municipalities always pay for the preservation of paper documents in the National Archives according to the tariff.
