Early voting
21st October 2024
Early voting starts on November 7th.
Early voting for the parliamentary elections to the Icelandic parliament, Althingi, which will take place on 30 November 2024, will begin on Thursday 7 November 2024.
Nationally, elections outside of voting are held by district commissioners all over the country, in their head offices or in their branches. The district commissioner may also decide that voting is to be held at a special polling station in the district. Further information can be found on the website of the district commissioners.
Abroad, early voting is conducted at the embassy's office, in the diplomatic missions or at the election officer's office. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may decide that early voting may also be conducted in other locations abroad. Information on the location of diplomatic missions can be found here.
Voters are advised to check the websites and social media of consular offices to see the opening hours of embassies but contact the honorary consuls directly if they intend to vote there to ensure that this is possible at that time.
