The Great Forest Day Competition

The 20th Anniversary of the Great Forest Day in Hallormsstaðaskógur National Forest will be celebrated this year. To commemorate this special occasion, a contest has been organized to select a feature song for the event. Submissions for the competition will be accepted until May 25th.
Ten songs will be selected by the jury to compete in random order at the semi-finals on Friday, June 21st, which will be held in Hallormsstaðaskógur National Forest, the day before the Great Forest Day.
The objective is to ensure that the authors of the ten songs chosen by the esteemed jury are notified by June 3rd that their songs will be submitted for the preliminary round.
The audience at the semi-finals will pick three songs out of the ten to compete in the final at the Great Forest Day on June 22nd. The songwriters will perform their own songs. There will be prizes for the top three songs.
The concept is that the winning song can be designated as the signature song for the Great Forest Day ("Skógardagurinn mikli" in Icelandic). While the annual event acquires the rights to utilize the song for performances and promotional purposes, the author retains ownership of the copyright in all other aspects.
Participation rules
The songs submitted to the competition shall be:
original, both song and text
of a maximum duration of three and a half minutes
