Our forest on the Great Forest Day

The song "Our Forest" by Hreinn Halldórsson was the winner of the Song Competition of the Great Forest Day, which was among the programme items at the festival held 22 June.
There was a singing competition organised this year to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the Great Forest Day event. The semi-finals were on Friday before Skógardagurinn mikli, and the finals were on Saturday. The winning song was "Our Forest" by Hreinn Halldórsson. Arnar Freyr Halldórsson Warén and Sigríður Friðný Halldórdóttir came in second with their song "Skógardagurinn mikli". Skógarpúkar got third place with their song "On the Forest Day".
This year, a song contest was held to mark the twenty-first anniversary of the celebration of Skógardagurinn mikli. The semi-finals were held in the run-up to Skógardagurinn mikli on Friday and the finals on Saturday. The results:
1st place: "Our Forest" by Hreinn Halldórsson.
2nd place: "The Great Forest Day" by Arnar Freyr Halldórsson Warén and Sigríður Friðný Halldórsdóttir.
3rd place: "On the Forest Day" by Skógarpúkar.
During the Great Forest Day, the Icelandic Forestry Championships were held as planned.
Mr. Bjarki Sigurðsson, a forest work supervisor for Land and Forest Iceland stationed at Hallormsstaður, emerged as the victor in the competition. Mr. Sigurðsson utilised a Husqvarna chain saw during his participation.
Second place was secured by Mr. Mates Ciselar, representing Skógarmenn in Akureyri, who employed a Stihl saw.
Third place was achieved by Mr. Sigfús Jörgen Oddsson, who competed on behalf of sheep farmers while utilising a Husqvarna saw.
Grilled beef, lamb, and sausages were well-received by the attendees. Additionally, kettle-brewed coffee and pancakes, both cooked over an open fire in the traditional forester's style, were quite popular with the public.
The Great Forest Day is organised by the Association of Forest Farmers and the Hallormsstaður division of Land and Forest Iceland in cooperation with the Association of Cattle Farmers in East Iceland and the Association of Sheep Farmers in the district.
