Mosses in the moor - an exciting Sunday event
2nd October 2024
On an "Exciting Sunday," October 6 between 14 and 16, Land and Forest Iceland and the Icelandic Museum of Natural History will host an event about moss and moors at the National Museum of Natural History’s exhibition, “The Water in Iceland’s Nature” on the 2nd floor of Perlan in Reykjavík.
All varieties of moss found in Icelandic nature will be examined, and their significance in relation to the moorlands will be discussed. Subsequently, visitors will be invited to actively participate in a creative textile workshop, where they will have the opportunity to craft their own unique moss creations.
In Iceland, over 600 species of moss thrive, representing extraordinary organisms that profoundly impact the landscape. Consequently, they serve as a crucial link between the rich biodiversity and the intricate functioning of Icelandic ecosystems.
Admission to this event is free and open to all interested.
The Icelandic Museum of Natural History hosts an array of captivating family-oriented events on the first Sunday of each month. These events provide an exceptional opportunity for families to engage in enjoyable activities and foster a deeper connection with nature in a fun and engaging manner.
