The crew members may appeal these decisions to the Immigration Appeals Board. However, lodging an appeal does not suspend the enforcement of the decisions. The Return and Repatriation Unit of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police is currently making the necessary preparations for their expulsion.

The complexity of carrying out the expulsion varies depending on the circumstances of each case and the nationality of the individual concerned. Accordingly, the process may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to complete.

The crew members have been permitted to leave the ship and are currently responsible for themselves. They have reporting obligation with the police and are required to remain within the Capital Area until their expulsion has been carried out.
