New Risk Management Policy of Iceland Health

15th January 2026

The continued journey towards strengthening professional, transparent, and responsible administration

Iceland Health has issued a new risk management policy, which is part of the institution's ongoing journey to enhance professional, transparent, and responsible administration. The policy supports the development of practices aimed at strengthening services to the public and ensuring the responsible management of public funds.

The policy defines, among other things, how Iceland Health assesses, monitors, and manages risks that may affect the efficiency and utilization of public funds, services, operations, and public trust. It establishes a systematic approach to risk management, supports quality work, and emphasizes the importance of data-driven and responsible practices in daily operations.

"Risk management is an integral part of providing safe, efficient, and coordinated services. It helps us identify and manage uncertainty in a targeted manner and thereby strengthens the role of the Iceland Health in ensuring rights and services for all users of healthcare services," says Sigurður Helgi Helgason, Director of the Iceland Health.

The new risk management policy is now available on Iceland Health website, Policies | Iceland Health.
