Auxiliary equipment commissioning courses
15th September 2023
On Tuesday, September 26, there will be a course on the agency of assistive devices.
The course is aimed at occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals with university education who are involved in assistive technology counselling and applications/allocation of assistive devices.
Iceland Health is constantly working on improvements with the aim of improving services for users of assistive devices. One aspect of this is to simplify and shorten the application process by empowering professionals to directly assign simpler aids.
Simpler aids refers to those aids which do not require major special adaptations such as sock cones, grip bars, simple shower chairs, bathing tables, walkers, simple wheelchairs, support bars, toilet supports, bed support handles and sponge boxes.
This is a comparable arrangement that has been used in many parts of the Nordic countries and has proved to be successful. This will help reduce the waiting time for users for simple necessary aids even further. We have called this agency provision.
Note that it is not possible to apply for a support and treatment tool through a proxy.
To access the allocation of assistive devices through a mandate, you must be present in a short course in TEAMS. The course lasts about an hour and a half.
Those interested in gaining access to the aids mandate are kindly asked to send an email to the address or before 25 September.
