Retroactivity of orthodontic grant

By amending the Regulation on the participation of Iceland Health in the cost of dentistry, which took effect on 11 September 2023, Iceland Health was authorized to grant additional grants to those who received an approved application for a grant for orthodontic treatment from 1 January to 31 August 2023, as follows:
Due to orthodontics that require treatment with fixed appliances in the other gum, 50,000 ISK
Due to orthodontics that require treatment with fixed appliances in both gums, 75,000 ISK
Orthodontists will be able to send Iceland Health invoices for the additional grant without further application or involvement of patients or their guardians.
The dentists receive payment from Iceland Health and deduct it from the cost of treatment for the individual in question.
