Specialist in Oncology Helgi Hafsteinn Helgason has been appointed Hedad of Internal Medicine the Suðurlands Healthcare Centre in Selfoss, Iceland, with effect from 1 August 2023.

Helgi has recently moved to Iceland after working in the Netherlands for a number of years. Helgi completed a diploma in medicine from the University of Iceland in 1996, he received a specialist licence in oncology in 2005 and in clinical pharmacy in 2007. He has worked as a specialist in oncology at Haaglanden Medical Center in Hag since 2010. He has years of experience in the treatment of cancer patients, research, teaching and administration.
