Baldvina Ýr Hafsteinsdóttir is Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for nursing services within the institution. The CNO supports the professional development of nursing practice and the career development of nurses, midwives, and nursing assistants, and also promotes the professional development of other healthcare professions in collaboration with other executive directors. The Chief Nursing Officer serves as a liaison with other healthcare institutions and external partners on matters relating to nursing.

Vignir Sigurðsson is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

The CMO is responsible for all medical services within the organisation and serves as the primary liaison with other healthcare institutions and external stakeholders on matters relating to medical practice and clinical services.

The Executive Director of Medical Services is the direct supervisor of department chiefs and chief physicians and acts as their principal advisor on professional and clinical matters. The role carries overall professional responsibility for medical services within HSU. In addition, the Executive Director supports the professional development of medical services, the career development of physicians, and the continuous strengthening of quality and patient safety in healthcare delivery.The Executive Director also works to advance and develop healthcare services in collaboration with fellow executive directors and the institution’s management team.

Freyja Fanndal Sigurjónsdóttir is the Chief Financial Officer.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial management of HSU and provides overall leadership and oversight of the institution’s finances, information technology, facilities, and operations. Responsibilities include budgeting and financial planning, operational performance monitoring, accounting, procurement, contract management, and the development of management information and reporting systems. The CFO also leads the development and continuous improvement of corporate support services, with a strong focus on the responsible use of resources, efficient processes, and informed decision-making.

Ingibjörg Rafnsdóttir is the Director of Human Resources.

The Director of Human Resources is involved in the preparation of collective bargaining agreements as appropriate and oversees the development and implementation of institutional agreements. The Human Resources Department and the Payroll Department fall under the Director of Human Resources.

Employee health and safety also fall under the HR division and include, among other things, health promotion, attendance management, employee safety, and occupational health and safety.
