CEO and Executive Board

The role of the Executive Board is to ensure that the South Iceland Health Institution fulfills its obligations to patients and clients in the best possible way within the financial framework allocated to the institution, and to work toward achieving the organization’s operational objectives.

The CEO is responsible for ensuring that the South Iceland Health Institution provides the best possible healthcare services. The CEO shall work to ensure that the institution carries out its role in all respects regarding service, teaching, and research.


Díana Óskarsdóttir, Chief Executive Officer

The CEO is appointed by the Minister of Health for a five-year term and works in accordance with a formal letter of appointment describing the position as a public office, its role, and main responsibilities.

Díana assumed the position of CEO of the South Iceland Health Institution on October 1, 2019, and was reappointed in autumn 2025.
