Efla Engineering Services has taken out the premises and is in charge of improvement measures. It is clear that the projects that need to be undertaken will have a disruptive effect on the operation of the primary health care center and could take a considerable amount of time.

It has long been known that the premises of the primary healthcare in Akureyri are unsuitable for the service provided. Half of the operations will move to renovated premises in Sunnuhlíð in December this year. This week, a public tender for healthcare center in Þórunnarstræti was introduced, which is to be completed in August 2025. Attempts will be made to prevent the projects that need to be undertaken from having an impact on services to residents.
