Flu vaccinations for priority groups starting October 22
12th October 2026
People age 60 and older, as well as others in priority groups, will be offered flu vaccinations at all health centers operated by Heilsugæsla höfuðborgarsvæðisins starting late October.

Update: Due to delays in vaccine delivery, flu vaccinations cannot begin on October 20 as originally planned. We hope to be able to start late in October. As soon as we know more we will update this information.
In accordance with recommendations from the Chief Epidemiologist, health centers will offer flu vaccinations to people in high-risk groups before vaccinations are opened to everyone.
The high-risk groups are:
People age 60 and older.
Children between 6 months and 5 years of age.
Children and adults with chronic heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease, obesity, diabetes, malignant diseases, and other diseases that suppress the immune system.
Pregnant individuals.
Healthcare professionals who care for people in high-risk groups.
People considered at risk of contracting both human influenza and avian influenza because of their occupation, as defined by the Chief Epidemiologist.
People who belong to any of these groups can book a vaccination appointment through My Pages on Heilsuvera. People in high-risk groups do not have to pay for the vaccination.
Children will be offered a nasal spray
During the week of November 2–6, children ages 2 to 4 will be offered flu vaccination using a nasal spray. No appointment is required. Parents can bring their children to their health center between 3 and 5 pm.
It’s a great opportunity for parents to stop by their health center with their children on the way home from preschool. Their favorite stuffed animal is welcome to come along for a nasal spray, too.
Vaccinations open to everyone starting November 9
Starting November 9, anyone who wishes to get vaccinated can visit a health center and receive a flu vaccination. Appointments must be booked through My Pages on Heilsuvera.
People who are not in a high-risk group do not pay the standard health center visit fee but must pay for the vaccine according to the price list.
