Amateur radio
Amateur radio operators are individuals with an interest in radio communications who use designated frequency bands for radio experimentation, communication, and technical development. Amateur radio is internationally recognised and plays an important role in innovation, knowledge development, and emergency communications.
The Electronic Communications Office of Iceland issues licences to amateur radio operators who have passed the required examinations (Novice Licence (N) and General Licence (G)).
Further information about amateur radio operators is available from the Icelandic Radio Amateurs Association. See the Regulation on Amateur Radio Operations No. 348/2004 (in icelandic). See also the 2018 amendment to Regulation No. 348/2004 (in icelandic).
